Support us What our supporters say Lifetime Gift of Reading Our supporters continually endorse and recommend Real Action. It is so rewarding and uplifting for the giver to know they are helping children have the best start to their educational journey in life. In deprived areas, good literacy skills mean young people are more likely to have optimum confidence. Then as young adults, have more opportunities to be-in-work, have careers or enter university - rather than end up in street gangs or involved in the growing knife-crime epidemic (as reported in the media recently). One in five adults’ reading level is below that of an eleven-year old. Surveys say that between 75 and 85 of juvenile prisoners are functionally illiterate and between 50 and 60 percent of prisoners in general are. We can help substantially reduce all these figures - starting now! There are many ways to support our work - volunteering, organising events, donations etc. Please contact our team to find out more. Below is an example of the type of endorsements we receive from our supporters. The video is produced by our long-term supporter Thomas Brown. Thomas Brown, Philanthropist and Founder/Clinical Director of Equanimity Psychological Services EPS, speaks at The Real Action Charity Volunteers Celebration Day 29th November 2018 - Hosted by our 2018 Deloitte Beyond-Me Team. Thomas speaks of the money he has raised for the charity Real Action by running the Superhero Run in May 2017 and the London Landmarks Half Marathon in March 2018. Thomas endorses and recommends supporting Real Action.
