A sister program to Real Action’s Butterfly School, the Treehouse offers children an opportunity to learn about subjects and ideas outside of the basic academic curriculum.
We offer a fun, safe space to explore new ideas and activities that will enrich a child’s emotional and educational development.
The Treehouse invites outstanding members of the local community including entrepreneurs, artists, athletes and professionals to share their talents and expertise with the children. The Treehouse meets once a month during the Saturday Butterfly School to explore topics ranging from nutrition to computer coding; from music to illustration.
Our aim is to help our students explore the diverse and vibrant community in which they live. Some of these opportunities take us out of the classroom and we recently sponsored three students to attend a local computer coding camp run by our friends at Blueshift Coding. This December, the Print Room Coronet Theatre and Give A Book have generously invited the entire Portobello Butterfly Reading School to attend a holiday reading by award-winning author Ben Okri as part of their Winter’s Tales series.
We are grateful for the generous support of our partners in the community and look forward to the exciting collaborations in the future.
