They include a highly structured syllabus centred around phonics and grammar, and whole class teaching with the students facing the teacher at all times. The charity’s reputation has spread by word of mouth and there is a long waiting-list of potential pupils. If it were to advertise, there would undoubtedly be an overwhelming response – which Real Action, with its current resources, couldn’t possibly handle. What the people running it need is more funding so that they can extend their activities to other parts of the country…
